Self-Regulation Promotes Learning and Thriving

We believe all kids can learn and thrive in their schools and communities. We also believe that self-regulation is an essential capacity for learning and healthy human development.   Working together to foster self-regulation in kids, and the adults that support them, we can change lives and build healthier, more sustainable communities.
Getting practical, CSRI offers support for your team’s professional efforts to create a self-regulated learning environment. Integrating insights from neuroscience, health, education and developmental psychology, we provide a platform for learning and engagement of educators, allied professionals, parents and communities who want to promote higher levels of learning, self-regulation and healthy development in kids and in the adults in their lives.

What is Self-Regulation?
There are hundreds of definitions – Let’s keep it simple and relevant

It’s every individual’s ability to productively use and then replenish energy as we deal with the countless inputs & stressors our minds and bodies process 24/7. When we are “self-regulated” we have achieved a balance by being able to meet life’s challenges and rise to life’s opportunities and to our own potential.
As educators and parents, we are always working with kids so they are empowered to develop self-regulation strategies and capacities so they can enjoy increased social-emotional health…and improved life trajectories.

Self-Regulation ... A Growing Movement

Evidence shows that self-regulation promotes thriving kids and thriving classrooms. And, in schools and districts across the country we’re witnessing growing awareness and commitment to self-regulation.  At the heart of our work is the aspiration to build a culture of self-regulation in our schools and communities. We’ll know we’ve been successful when we can say “it’s just the way we do things around here.”
